Our mission

Brian Z. France, Executive Vice President, NASCARThe NASCAR community is built on a shared passion for a sport unlike any other. With over 75 million fans, we want our sport to look like America and attract the best talent and the most dedicated fans in the world. We recognize that to sustain our growth and broaden the appeal of our sport, a concerted industry-wide commitment is required to promote diversity and help create opportunities throughout the motorsports industry. To that end, in 2000 we formed the NASCAR Diversity Council in order to work closely with motorsports industry leaders toward achieving these goals.

NASCAR, and the entire industry, continue to take important steps to expand the diversity of our sport. These include our NASCAR Diversity Internship Program; Drive for Diversity; scholarships to Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Hispanic Serving Institutions; support of the Urban Youth Racing School; the NASCAR College Tour presented by the Coca-Cola Company; and our partnership with the NASCAR Technical Institute.

With these and other efforts already in place or being developed, we hope to bring greater diversity—in crew members, drivers, speedway operators, broadcasting, licensing, team ownership and marketing—to our sport. We still have a lot of work ahead of us, but are excited about what the future holds. We invite you to learn more about our diversity initiative and the growing opportunities to join the NASCAR community and make the sport even more exciting for all of us.

“This program is one of several NASCAR diversity initiatives aimed at introducing the professional opportunities available within the industry to diverse students. For six years the internship program has successfully matched aspiring students with full-time positions in the NASCAR industry. The support of NASCAR partners has helped keep the internship program running strong.”
