FAQ's
1. Am I eligible to apply?
This internship program is designed for students who are ethnically-diverse and currently enrolled in a college and/or university.
2. What are the requirements?
You must be a sophomore standing, have at least a 3.0 GPA and be in good standing in your school and community. This internship is highly competitive. We receive 300+ applications from schools and universities all across the nation.
3. What is the interviewing process?
There will be an initial screening process to take place a week after the application deadline. Once the screening process is over, a percentage of those candidates will be sent to our partnering companies for second round interviews. The company is then responsible for selecting a candidate from the files they receive.
4. Who makes the hiring decision?
NASCAR does preliminary screening but the decision to schedule a second interivew and the hiring decision is solely at the discretion of the hiring company. The hiring company/department is also responsible for deterimining the salary, housing support, work schedule, etc.)
5. How many positions are filled?
The current targeted placement goal is 25-30 positions.
6. If I obtain the internship, is housing provided?
Each company has a different policy on housing. This is totally dependant on what the company and/or department can provide.
7. If I participate in this program, am I guaranteed placement in a full-time position?
There have been many interns placed in full-time positions with the companies they worked for. There is no guarantee because full-time placement is based on the need of the company/department and your personal performance during the internship.
8. What is the timeline for this program?
The online application will be available in the winter. We will be accepting applications until early March. Screening and interviewing will take place throughout April. Each company is encouraged to make a decision by the last week of April. Intern orientation will take place the third week of May, during the All-Star Race in Charlotte, NC. The internship session takes place The first week of June through the second week of August.
9. Does this internship entail any opportunities if I am looking to become a driver and/or pit-crew member?
