Hometown and School: Coral Gables, FL, Florida International University
Currently Employed:Executive Director, Women’s Auxiliary of Motorsports
How did you get involved with NASCAR and the Internship Program?
I have always been a NASCAR fan, and I was presented with an opportunity to intern with the Homestead-Miami Speedway from a contact at Florida International University. I jumped at the opportunity because I enjoy racing, and wanted to work in sports, and the internship was a perfect fit.
What did you learn from your internship experience?
I learned a great deal from my internship. I saw a side of NASCAR that I did not know about. I learned all about what goes into putting on an event, sponsor sensitivity, and how to successfully organize and run large scale events such as Ford Racefest. I was given lots of great hands on opportunities to expand my knowledge work on exciting events.
How is your present position rewarding?
My present position is rewarding because this is a position that I earned through all my hard work and dedication during my internship, and it now gives me the opportunity to reach out and lend a helping hand to so many others. It has been a rewarding experience thus far. This is an outstanding organization that reaches beyond NASCAR to help others. From sponsoring a Habitat for Humanity house to collecting pajamas for orphans across the country, WAM has given me an opportunity to really develop my professional skills and serve others while still remaining an integral part of the NASCAR Industry.
Quote: “The NASCAR industry is a great place to work. Whether you are a fan or not, you have an excellent opportunity to excel in one of the largest industries in business.”
