Corporate Sales Intern

Description: Daytona International Speedway, home of the Daytona 500, seeks an intern to assist the Corporate Sales Department. The selected candidate will be assigned a project to complete by the end of his/her term. In addition, the intern will interact with the entire sales and marketing partnerships team on a daily basis. Due to the Pepsi 400 being held during the term, this intern must be willing to take on operational duties near race time. Being involved in such a large scale event will offer invaluable experience. Internship includes participation in database management, consumer research and various other sales-related functions.

Additional Requirements: A desire to work in sports marketing is required. Computer proficiency is a must. Ability to work irregular hours around event time required. Marketing or communications majors preferred but not required.

Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations Intern

Description: This NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series sanctioned track, also known as the “Monster Mile,” will provide its intern with an opportunity to assist the Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Promotions. The intern will work with the speedway’s marketing team to develop and execute promotional programs designed to maximize attendance at the track’s fall race. Duties will include event marketing display, survey development and execution, and promotional plan development with potential for Web site applications and development.

Additional Requirements: Majors in marketing or communications preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, HTML, PhotoShop, and FLASH helpful.

Production Assistant Intern

Description: FOX Entertainment Group’s Speed Channel seeks an intern to serve as production assistant. Duties will include logging sports and entertainment footage; assisting producers in the edit bay; making dubs; data entry; picking music for segments; assisting on shoots as needed; editing bumpers for the show; gathering props; providing assistance to all production staff; organizing clips and footage; and preparing materials for feature and segment producers.

Additional Requirements: Minimum one year television experience (intern experience is acceptable). Must be familiar with production/tape formats (Beta, SP, Digital Beta, ¾” tape, etc.). Knowledge of live television a plus

Competition Intern

Description: Home to several NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series teams, including the #24 Chevrolet DuPont car driven by Jeff Gordon, the #48 Chevrolet Lowe's car driven by Jimmy Johnson, the #5 Chevrolet Kellogg 's car driven by Kyle Busch, and the #25 Chevrolet GMAC car driven by Brian Vickers , Hendrick Motorsports seeks an intern to assist in all areas of race shop functions. This includes the mechanical, engineering, fabrication, parts, and transport areas. The intern will get an understanding of how a modern NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series race shop operates and what job opportunities exits within the sport.

Additional Requirements: Knowledge of basic hand tools and general mechanical ability required.

Description: Kansas Speedway, one of the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series' sanctioned tracks, will give its intern the ultimate experience in motorsports by working within all the speedway's departments - Public Relations, Marketing and Sales, Ticket Operations, and Facility Operations. The intern will assist with every aspect in planning and executing a major NASCAR weekend at one of the country's newest and premier racetracks. By the time the intern's commitment is over, he/she will have helped prepare a racetrack for a major motorsports event from start to finish!

Additional Requirements: Intern must be seriously interested in a career in motorsports. Intern must also provide own transportation. Intern must attend local school or have permanent residency in area.

MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Ticket Office Intern

Description: The MIS Ticket Office intern will be asked to handle many tasks including: sell tickets to all MIS races; work extensively with the MIS Mobile Ticket Office (MTO), which travels across the state of Michigan and midwest selling tickets; help in the preparation of the ticket operations on race weekends; assist with the race day gate operations; answer phone calls from MIS customers; and assist with general ticket office duties (including ticket orders, stuffing envelopes with marketing items, and other duties as assigned).

Additional Requirements: Communications, business, or marketing oriented person able to work long hours and weekends. A comfort level with sales would be an asset with all the MTO responsibilities, but an energetic, outgoing personality is more important than prior sales experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Intern must attend local school or have permanent residency in area.

Broadcast Intern

Description: MRN Radio is the nation's largest independent sports radio network, based in Daytona Beach, Florida, featuring live coverage of NASCAR's three major national series. MRN Radio seeks an intern to assist in broadcast archive duplication and management. The qualified candidate will receive training in audio board operation; broadcast feed assembly; general audio production standards; and feature audio production. The intern will also participate in remote audio acquisition from select race series venues.

Additional Requirements: Intern should have operational knowledge of audio editing software applications such as Pro Tools, Sound Forge, Cool Edit, or similar application. Interest in audio production career a plus.

Entertainment Group Intern

Description: NASCAR's L.A. office is home to the NASCAR Broadcasting and Digital Entertainment. The intern will work closely with the head of the department as well as the account executives for music, film and television to foster NASCAR's music and entertainment industry contacts amongst the motion picture studio publicity departments, network publicity departments, talent agencies, and music recording label executives. The intern will participate in the efforts to attract talent to NASCAR events for performances and appearances. Also, the intern will be involved with Cherry Lane music publishing and facilitate requests around NASCAR's new music publishing business, Motor Music. In addition, the intern may be involved in some of the day-to-day details involved in the production and marketing of any entertainment programs currently in production.

Additional Requirements: One or two years in music, broadcast communications or publicity related experience, training or class work required. Experience working in the music industry or with celebrities is helpful.

Description: NASCAR's 61,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Research and Development Center, which focuses on safety and designing the car of the future, is seeking an intern to primarily work alongside engineers and fabrication shop personnel to accomplish Research and Development Center goals. Additional Requirements: General knowledge of basic hand tools, machine scales, micrometers, verniers, angle gauges, and reading and implementing blue prints required. Description: Located in NASCAR's headquarters, Diversity Affairs, Public Relations and Series Operations Departments seek an intern to rotate through all 3 departments during the 10-week internship period. Public Relations responsibilities will include working on extensive research in print, radio and television categories, maintain and develop monthly reports, participate in weekly NASCAR NEXTEL Cup teleconference, investigate and research into Top 40 newspaper markets and other duties related to the department. Description: Phoenix International Raceway, a one-mile paved oval that seats more than 86,000 race fans and features the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, as well as Indy Car and now the Phoenix Historic Grand Prix featuring the Kruse Auction is seeking an intern who will be comfortable working with the Raceway's Sales, Marketing and Public Relations team assisting with various duties in preparation for upcoming events. Duties will include event management, research, credentialing of media, teams and sponsors, community relations events, assistance with the development and implementation of sales and promotional plans designed to maximize attendance at the Raceway's events.

Additional Requirements: One year experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office, must be able to work event-related/weekend hours.

Description: Pocono Raceway, the only NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series sanctioned track with a one-of-a-kind track design, will host an intern that will assist in various departments in the preparation of NASCAR NEXTEL CUP Series Events. The intern will work in the Credentials, Media Services and Track Services departments. The intern will be intricately involved in the credentialing of media, teams, and sponsor, public relations and media activities, security post assignments, and logistics.

The intern will train to possibly become an apprentice mechanic or fabricator at the shop.

Additional Requirements: Candidate must be responsible, have mechanical ability, and computer efficiency is a plus. Candidate must be a clean-cut go-getter, hungry for a position in NASCAR racing.

Its intern will be exposed to different aspects of work, including interaction with licensees, special projects, product approvals, distribution of artwork, gathering of sales and marketing material, data entry, and writing licensing-oriented articles for roushracing.com.

Description: This candidate will have an opportunity to contribute to the Craftsman brand and motorsports marketing team with a strong emphasis the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. This position will afford a candidate the opportunity to participate in Sears'/Craftsman's development of marketing plans, daily contact with Sears' motorsports agency of record, on-site event execution and project management. The candidate will have a project given to him/her during the course of the internship which will serve as a "results summary" of their work.

Additional Requirements: Major area(s) of study include: business or marketing or economics. Prior course work in sports marketing is preferred and prior work experience sponsorship, property or brand marketing is a plus.

Description: Talladega Superspeedway is looking for an intern to assist in the track's ticketing and guest services operations. The intern will have the opportunity to work in customer-oriented services such as inbound and outbound phone work, face-to-face interaction with customers, ticket processing, marketing and sales initiatives, as well as other aspects in the ticketing operation.

Additional Requirements: Majors in marketing, sales, or communications preferred but not required. Strong organizational and computer skills, high energy, and a willingness to tackle new tasks are all a plus. Students from Alabama universities/colleges preferred but not required.

Description: Meet with producer on a daily basis to help prepare show, assists talk show producer while program is on-air, including telephone call screening and other duties as trained and assigned, be trained on and use XM's digital audio editing systems to assist producer, assist with studio preparation for daily show.
