SUCCESS STORIES

Brandon Thompson
Internship: 2003 Nashville Superspeedway Marketing Intern
Hometown and School: Nashville, TN, Clark Atlanta University
Currently Employed: Senior Account Executive, Diversity Affairs

How did you get involved with NASCAR and the Internship Program?
I first became involved with NASCAR through the NDIP in 2003, when I interned at the Nashville Superspeedway. The freshness and unorthodox nature of the internship was what attracted me to the program.

What did you learn from your internship experience?
I learned so much from my internship. Some of the things that stuck out to me were the loyalty of the fans, driver accessibility, the overall “good nature” of the fans, and the big business surrounding the sport. The fans in this sport are more loyal than those of any other.

How is your present position rewarding?
My present position is rewarding because I feel privileged to be able to assist up-and-coming leaders in our industry, enjoy the same experience I did while I was a student. I also enjoy seeing people gradually become even fans, when they knew little to nothing about the sport, because here again, I can relate.
